How to Use a Downloaded Pattern in Photoshop
Adding a Photoshop patterns goes beyond the process of downloading the necessary file. Here are some of the basic steps to make use of your desired pattern sets.
Step 1: Download the pattern that you want to use.
Step 2: Most often, they are distributed as zip files, so you will need to unzip it using your zip extraction software.
Step 3: Select the location where you want to save the unzipped files.
Step 4: Create a new image in Photoshop and make sure to set the background contents to transparent rather than a white background. Or you can simply open an image in Photoshop.
Step 5: On the top of the window, click Edit then click Fill.
Step 6: Once the “Fill” box is open, click the drop-down menu to the right of “Use” then click “Pattern”.
Step 7: Click the drop-down arrow to the right of Custom Pattern then click “Load Patterns”.
Step 8: A smaller window with different pattern design will pop up. Click on the small arrow on the right side of the patterns.
Step 9: Browse the folder where you extracted the files earlier. Open it and then select the pattern you extracted previously.
Step 10: The pattern will then be added to the Custom Patterns’ list. In here, you can change the look and feel of your pattern. You can play around with it and see how it modifies your canvas.
