Creating The Background

Create a new (Ctrl + N) Document 3000 x 3000 pixels with a black #000000 background. Right click the background layer and select “Layer From Background” from the fly out menu. Now download the fabric texture pack from the resource list and load it into photoshop.

Double click the background layer and apply the leather texture from the texture pack.

Create a new layer above the background layer and fill (G) it with the color white #ffffff. Now add the following layer styles to the layer.

You should now have something like this.

Creating The Chrome Text

Select the “Text Tool” (T) and write your text on the canvas.

Now add the following layer styles to your text layer.

Adding Texture To The Chrome

Duplicate your text layer then right click the layer and select “Clear Layer Styles”. Now add a “Gradient Overlay” using the settings below.

Now, load a selection around the text layer you just duplicated “Select > Load Selection”.

Create a new layer at the top of your stack then fill (G) the selection with any color. With the selection still loaded apply the noise filter “Filter > Noise > Add Noise”.

Once you’ve added the noise filter deselect the selection (Ctrl + D) then set the layer blend mode to “Soft Light” and opacity to 20%.

Creating The Outer Chrome Layer

Load a selection around your original text layer “Select > Load Selection” then go to “Select > Modify > Expand”. Expand the selection by about 10 pixels, create a new layer underneath your text layer and fill (G) the selection with any color. Now add the following layer styles to this new layer.

Adding The Shadow

Finally load a selection around your original text layer “Select > Load Selection”, create a new layer above your background layers then fill the selection with the color black #000000.

Select the “Move Tool” (V) then move the shadow layer between 5-10 pixels down and between 5-10 pixels left. Your finished result should look something like this.
